Heather Butterwoth
Heather qualified in 2001 as a doctor from Cardiff, and have since
taken the scenic route to qualifying as a GP while having and looking
after two children. I have completed multiple specialities including
accident and emergency medicine, psychiatry, rehabilitation medicine in
a secondary care setting, and obstetrics and gynaecology. All of these
have been useful to prepare me for a holistic and multi-disciplinary
approach to managing complex elderly patients.
I have completed locums in both Redlands and Albert Rd surgeries, and
continue to work in Albert Rd surgery on a Thursday afternoon, thus
keeping my general practice skills up to date!
This is a challenging role, and I am excited about improving and
maintaining the health of the nursing and residential home residents.
I will also enjoy the challenges of preventing avoidable secondary care
admissions, and using a holistic multi-disciplinary approach to allow
patients to stay in their own homes as long as they and their family
wish.

Richard Davies
Richard graduated with a Bachelor of Nursing (Hons) degree from Glyndwr University in 2002.
He has worked within the Intensive Care Unit of the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff since graduation. He has also for some time worked in the primary care sector as a teleconsultation triage and advice nurse, which has facilitated his transition to the primary care sector.
He joined the Penarth Integrated Care Team project in June of 2008. Both he and Jo have established fast-track links between home care services and primary/secondary care services.

On her return to the UK, Jo completed a return to practice course and has since been working in primary care as a district nurse and more recently a teleconsultation nurse for primecare.
